On Saturday at 6 PM, at the Teatro Naselli in Comiso, the district award ceremony for the international competition “A Poster for Peace”, promoted by Lions Clubs International and, for Sicily, by District 108Yb within the School Area will take place.

An event that, year after year, strengthens the relationship between the Lions world and the new generations, enhancing the creativity of students and their perspective on the universal themes of peace, brotherhood, and dialogue.

During the meeting, the winners from the clubs belonging to the District will be announced and awarded; the top three winners will also receive a monetary award.

The presence of first vice-governor Walter Buscema, along with the zone and club presidents, is expected.

The evening will be enriched by artistic and cultural moments: the singer Marta La Rosa will perform, followed by the choir “Noi Posso”, and the theatrical reading “Bullo da morire”, based on the book by Giuseppe Raffa and curated by the comprehensive institute “Verga” of Comiso will be presented.

The hosting will be entrusted to Tiziana Bellassai.

The president of the VIII District, Gigi Bellassai, emphasizes its significance: “The award ceremony for ‘A Poster for Peace’ represents one of the most significant moments of our Lions year”. Through the drawings of the kids, we can read their idea of peace, coexistence, and the future. It is a pure, immediate language that reminds us how important it is to listen to the new generations and support them in their growth journey. The presence of schools, families, and the community makes this event a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the Lions' commitment to education, culture, and the values that unite us.”

He adds: “We are proud of the work done by the clubs in the District and the participation of the local schools”. Each poster is a message, an invitation to build a better world. Our closeness to the school is not formal, but concrete: we believe in young people and their ability to imagine what adults often forget.

The initiative is set to be a moment of strong civic engagement, capable of combining art, commitment, and educational sensitivity. The participation of the public will be particularly welcome and will help to give further meaning to an exhibition that has always been one of the most recognizable symbols of the Lions International's commitment to peace in the world.
