In last night's session, the City Council approved the amendment to the cemetery services regulation which abolishes the 100 euro fee previously required from citizens who, while arriving within the opening hours of the municipal cemetery, accessed it for the funeral of their relatives after 4:30 PM and in any case no later than half an hour before closing.

Councilor Sergio Firrincieli expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the vote, recalling the process that led to the revision: "You will remember our guideline act aimed at eliminating that odious fee of 100 euros for those who arrived at the cemetery after 4:30 PM, but still within the allowed time. In the Council, we had promised to transform that act into a proper regulatory amendment proposal and yesterday this was done. At the time, I had withdrawn the guideline act precisely because there was a full agreement of intent from the competent assessor, the majority, and the other minorities. Today we have reached the result and I can only express satisfaction.

Firrincieli then emphasized the value of work in the Chamber when characterized by a constructive spirit: "The city council, when operating with seriousness and responsibility, demonstrates its ability to intervene on issues that directly affect the lives of citizens. Eliminating an unjustified cost and source of discomfort was a necessary act. It is a signal of attention towards people, especially in delicate moments such as those related to the need to honor their recently deceased loved ones."

The amendment takes effect immediately, starting from the approval.
