Marina di Ragusa, the neighborhood dog Ciccio released back into the wild

The Municipality of Ragusa has completed the process regarding the dog "Ciccio", a historic neighborhood pet in Marina di Ragusa, ordering its controlled reintroduction into the territory in the coming days.

"It is a decision – declares the councilor for Animal Protection, Andrea Distefano – made with a sense of responsibility and great attention from Mayor Peppe Cassì, following an administrative and technical process that allowed for a thorough evaluation of the situation.

An assessment made with balance, respecting the regulations and paying attention to both public safety and animal welfare. A key factor was the acquisition of a veterinary behavioral report that excluded profiles of danger for the animal, confirming a situation compatible with free management.

The dog, already present in the territory of Marina di Ragusa for some time, is indeed known to residents for its gentle nature and for its peaceful coexistence with the community.

An important role has been played by the Leidaa Iblea association, which has closely followed the matter from the beginning, collaborating with the Administration and providing expertise and support. Together with other volunteer citizens, the association has also guaranteed its availability to carry out tutoring and monitoring activities for the dog after its reintroduction.

Fundamental was also the participation of the community: there were numerous messages, expressions of affection, and requests from citizens to bring Ciccio back to his natural environment, with the hope of officially recognizing him as a neighborhood dog.

Ciccio has lived in Marina di Ragusa for years and is considered an integral part of the daily life of the neighborhood, in an atmosphere of balance and serenity.

After a particularly complex period, a new phase now opens: the animal has been sterilized and equipped with a microchip, in full compliance with the regulations. The reintroduction will take place with the support of the identified tutors, ensuring the dog a serene context and constant monitoring.
