The weather forecast for the week leading up to Easter in the province of Ragusa: temperatures below ten degrees.
For the last Friday of Lent and Palm Sunday, it should not rain but it will be cold.
Meteo Ispica forecasts a week characterized by variability in the Iblean area, with frequent cloudy spells alternating with clearings, aided by a relatively low geopotential that will promote some instability, especially in the first part of the period.
“The week starting tomorrow will see variable weather due to relatively low geopotential values that will bring a bit of instability in the first part of the week, with some rain alternating with clearings,” the bulletin emphasizes.
Looking ahead to the last Friday of Lent, numerical models converge on the influx of an unusually cold Arctic air mass for the season. “With the arrival of a trough, a depression vortex will form that currently seems to slide over the eastern Italian seas,” explains Meteo Ispica.
In this context, a noticeable drop in temperature is expected in the Iblean area, with values 4-5 degrees below average, and moderate northwesterly winds, at times strong, with gusts up to about 50 km/h.
“The good news is that with this configuration there should be no precipitation, so Friday evening will remain dry, but with temperatures that could drop below 10 degrees.”
The perceived temperature will be even lower due to the wind.
For Palm Sunday, the disturbance will move eastward, but a crisp climate will persist due to a further, albeit weak, contribution of cold northern air.
A look at Holy Week calls for caution.
“The models currently see Italy halfway between a powerful anticyclone to the west and a vast trough to the east,” Meteo Ispica further highlights.
The evolution between Holy Thursday and Good Friday will depend on which of the two pressure systems prevails; at this stage, it is not possible to make a detailed forecast.
