The urban public transport service in Vittoria is once again halted. The umpteenth suspension, due to technical failures of the vehicle used for city routes, reignites the controversy over a disservice that has been dragging on for months and continues to create inconveniences for citizens, particularly the elderly, students, and workers.

Intervening is city councilor Biagio Pelligra, a member of Forza Italia, who denounces how the situation has become unsustainable: “We are back to square one. The service is interrupted with an impressive frequency because the vehicles are no longer suitable for circulation and continue to present failures. It is evident that maintenance is no longer sufficient and that the fleet needs immediate renewal.”

Pelligra recalls how the mayor himself had announced, even in his annual report, the purchase of new buses intended for urban transport. “As of today – emphasizes the councilor – we have no concrete feedback. No new vehicle has arrived, no improvement has been recorded. On the contrary, the service continues to be suspended consistently and periodically, with serious repercussions on urban mobility.”

The councilor also highlights that the problem is not new: “Some time ago we had already submitted an official note to report the critical situation. Nothing has changed. It is evident that we cannot continue to manage an essential public service with obsolete vehicles subject to continuous failures.”

Pelligra calls for an immediate and decisive intervention from the municipal administration: “The mayor must keep the commitments made and finally ensure a stable, efficient, and respectful service for citizens. It is no longer acceptable for an entire community to suffer the consequences of careless management and promises left on paper.”
