On March 29, Palm Sunday, the third edition of the Saint Joseph's altar set up by the Pro Loco of Campobello di Mazara with the patronage of the Municipality will return, dedicated to the memory of the “masters” Baldassare Stallone and Girolama Giorgi.

This year, the setup in the former church of the Addolorata recovers an ancient tradition: the chenille blankets, accompanied by a roof made entirely of wedding veils donated by over 150 women from Campobello.

The chenille, a precious fabric that was once part of the dowry of young brides, thus returns to play a symbolic role.

«We wanted to revive what my parents passed down for decades» says Rosetta Stallone, one of the protagonists of the setup along with the students of the masters and a group of women from the town.

«The altar is a rite that brings together faith and community» - explains the president of the Pro Loco, Max Firreri. «It is a collective heritage that we want to pass on to students as well, thanks to a photographic exhibition and dedicated visits».

On Sunday, March 29, the traditional Dinner with the Saints will take place with 101 dishes offered by the citizens. At 11 there will be the blessing of the Palms with Father Nicola Patti, followed by the procession to the mother church and the return to the Addolorata for the “tuppuliata” and entry to the dinner, which will continue throughout the afternoon.

The altar will be open for free visits from March 31 to April 12, from 9:30 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 8 PM.
