A simple gesture can turn into concrete support. Even in 2026, the province of Ragusa will be at the forefront of the traditional fundraising campaign of AIL – Italian Association against Leukemias, Lymphomas and Myeloma, which invites citizens to purchase Easter Eggs and artisanal doves to finance research and assistance for patients affected by hematological diseases.

The event is scheduled for March 20, 21, and 22, when volunteers will be present at numerous locations in the area to distribute the famous eggs, a symbol of hope and solidarity.

The AIL campaign, active for over half a century throughout Italy, celebrates a special milestone in the province of Ragusa: twenty years of presence in local squares, a sign of the trust and closeness of the community.

With a minimum contribution of 15 euros, it is possible to receive an AIL Easter Egg and thus support the fight against leukemias, lymphomas, and myeloma.

“Inside an AIL Easter Egg, there is much more. With a small contribution, we can fight against these serious diseases and bring help to many patients. It is essential to walk together to make blood cancers more treatable,” emphasizes the president of AIL Ragusa, Carmela Nicita.

The initiative has recently been embraced by schools, public entities, and private businesses. Full support also comes from ASP of Ragusa: the general director, Giuseppe Drago, highlighted the value of an event that, in addition to raising funds for research, ensures tangible help to those who face the disease daily.

The volunteers of AIL Ragusa have also met with representatives of the Free Municipal Consortium to expand the network of solidarity. “The AIL Easter Egg campaign has been a significant moment of solidarity for years. An invitation to all citizens to celebrate Easter with a gesture of sharing, which will enrich the heart and contribute to a great common goal,” states president Maria Rita Schembari.

In recent years, the Ragusa section has intensified its efforts in the area. “Last year we sold about 1200 eggs and we continue to work to improve our services,” recalls Nicita.

In synergy with the hematology service of the ASP of Ragusa, the association guarantees psychological support, patient transportation, and home care, allowing therapies to be received at home: a service among the few in Sicily, essential for the quality of life of patients and support for their families.
