There is a special energy when a community chooses to take care of its territory.

This is what happened in the areas outside the Pantani Longarini and Cuba Nature Reserve, between Ispica and Pachino, where a large group of volunteers organized a day dedicated to cleaning and respecting the environment.

A simple yet impactful gesture, capable of restoring dignity to a place that has long represented a precious refuge for migratory birds and rare species, thanks to the constant commitment of the German foundation that protects its habitat.

The mobilization involved people of different ages and backgrounds, united by the desire to contribute concretely to the common good.

The intervention focused mainly on the peripheral areas of the protected area, often marked by neglect and litter abandonment.

At the heart of the operation was the Raneddi reclamation road, in Contrada Fondo Melone, where participants removed tons of materials of all kinds, restoring order and decorum to a stretch of landscape that deserves much more attention.

Describing the spirit of the day was Paolo Galasso, a biologist from the foundation, who emphasized how cohesion and civic sense can produce tangible changes. His account conveyed the image of a collective commitment, supported by the Municipality and law enforcement, present to ensure logistical assistance and safety.

The results were immediately evident: a cleaner, more welcoming, and respected environment. Just as spring transforms the wetlands into a mosaic of colors, the initiative gains additional value: it invites us to look at these places with new eyes, to feel them as part of ourselves, to protect them not only for what they represent today but also for what they will continue to be for future generations.

In conclusion, days like this remind us that caring for the environment is not an abstract duty, but a daily practice, born from the desire to live in a better place. And when the community moves in unison, change becomes concrete.
