Ragusa, the 209th anniversary of the founding of the prison police was celebrated.

This morning, at the Ragusa prison, the ceremony for the 209th anniversary of the Penitentiary Police took place, an occasion to pay tribute to the daily dedication of the agents engaged in one of the most complex contexts of state administration.

The celebration was also attended by Senator Salvo Sallemi, who expressed gratitude for the work done "to safeguard security, legality, and the rehabilitation process of inmates", while also emphasizing the need to ensure adequate operational conditions and a recognition proportional to the responsibilities assumed.

The date of March 19 holds a significant symbolic value: the figure of Saint Joseph, patron of the Corps, evokes a sense of duty, discretion, and protection. A tradition that has its roots in the history of prison guards and continues to represent a strong identity reference, even after the 1990 reform.
