Municipality of Ispica, the unions: "Enough with unkept promises"
On the carpet, the issue of part-time workers, Cisl Fp and Fp Cgil face to face.
The headquarters of the Municipality of Ispica
Ispica, the patience of the part-time employees of the Municipality is running out. After fifteen months of meetings, negotiations, and commitments made but consistently unmet, the measure is full.
To denounce this are the territorial secretary of Cisl Fp Ragusa, Sandra Farruggio, and the general secretary of Fp Cgil Ragusa, Nunzio Fernandez, who openly speak of «yet another, deep and bitter disappointment».
The reference is to the meeting of March 3 last, during which the councilors Galifi, Dibenedetto, and Andolina signed a document with Cisl and Cgil committing the Administration to intervene starting from March 16, 2026, in case the Region's approval for the temporary increase of part-time hours, provided for by Article 56 of the Regional Stability Law 2026-2028 (contributions to local authorities in distress for the increase in hours of part-time staff), did not arrive in time.
The agreement was explicit: in the absence of the regional implementing decree, the Municipality would guarantee with its own resources an integration of 8 hours per week for 30 days, in order to avoid further uncertainties for the workers.
«To date – denounce Farruggio and Fernandez – only talk and unkept promises. No concrete action, no hourly integration, no sign of respect towards workers who have been providing essential services for years with reduced hours and insufficient wages».
The two trade unions define the situation as «no longer tolerable», especially in light of the long process of dialogue that should have led to a shared solution. «We have shown responsibility, availability, and institutional sense – they state – but we will not accept further delays or games at the expense of the employees».
For this reason, Cisl Fp Ragusa and Fp Cgil announce that in the coming days, union action will be intensified, with all necessary initiatives to protect the rights, dignity, and future of part-time workers at Palazzo Bruno. «We do not rule out more incisive actions – they conclude – because the time for waiting is over. Now we need actions».
