Notarial Council: Claudia Gucciardo confirmed as president. Here is the team for the three-year period 2026-2029.
The profession is changing face between digital and women's quotas. The program for the new term.
Continuity, technological innovation, and an increasing focus on social issues. These are the pillars on which the renewal of the Notarial Council of the united Districts of Agrigento and Sciacca rests, which has officially confirmed the positions for the three-year term 2026-2029.
At the end of the electoral consultations held on February 27, the Council chose to confirm notary Claudia Gucciardo as president, a long-time professional who has been leading the provincial district since 2016. Joining her on the board will be colleague Calogera Gagliano as secretary, and Giuseppe Fanara as treasurer. The team is completed by councilors Matteo Borsellino, Valentina Fazio, Gerlando Montante, and Maria Orlando.
A young and "pink" District
The Agrigento notariat presents itself for the new three-year term with a modern face and a balanced composition: of the 23 notaries active in the area, gender parity is nearly achieved (12 men and 11 women), with a significant push from young professionals, thanks to the four new entries recorded in the last three years.
A generational change that translates into a push towards digitalization: today, the dialogue between notaries and the Public Administration (Revenue Agency, Chambers of Commerce, Courts) takes place through advanced technological channels, ensuring efficiency and speed for citizens.
Notaries "in place of the judge": less bureaucracy for the most vulnerable
One of the most relevant innovations of the mandate concerns the subsidiary function of the notary, who has now become a key figure in the protection of vulnerable individuals. Thanks to recent legislative competencies, the notary can now intervene — as an alternative to the magistrate — to authorize necessary acts for minors, incapacitated persons, or supported individuals, in addition to managing the rehabilitation of protested debtors. This step contributes concretely to relieving the Courts of bureaucratic delays, providing immediate responses to the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The program: free information desks and listening
President Gucciardo has already outlined a "road map" that places the citizen at the center: The new mandate will be aimed at enhancing the social function of the profession. We will continue to promote free listening desks and informative guides for users, in synergy with other professional orders and public entities.
Among the initiatives in the works is the organization of an annual conference dedicated to exploring the role of freelance professions in the Sicilian social fabric.
