Razzie in Acate and Comiso, provincial Confcommercio Ragusa: "Sector is worried, answers are needed"
The trade association is calling for increased inspections, especially during nighttime hours.
The jewelry store in Comiso gutted
Confcommercio Ragusa raises the alarm after the serious assaults carried out during the night in Acate and Comiso, where gangs of criminals targeted, respectively, two Unicredit ATM machines and a jewelry store, breaking through the entrances with excavators to complete the heists.
The provincial president, Gianluca Manenti, on behalf of the entire trade organization, expresses “strong concern” for a dynamic that he defines as “a treacherous action, in terms of methods and violence, that alarms the entire commercial sector of the province”, emphasizing how the escalation of attacks is becoming increasingly disturbing.
“We express full solidarity with the affected operators and call for an immediate strengthening of controls, especially during nighttime hours. It is essential that these incidents do not have economic repercussions on merchants, who are already burdened by years of difficulties and the consequences of international circumstances that have made managing businesses increasingly complex. Those who invest, create jobs, and keep the city alive cannot be left alone in the face of such devastating damages,” says Manenti.
On the Comiso case, the sectional president of Confcommercio, Orazio Nannaro, also intervenes, expressing “convincing solidarity” with the affected jewelry store, reminding that this is the second incident in a few months in the same city. “The concern among citizens and business operators is extremely high – he says –. We cannot allow the situation to deteriorate. We call for an extraordinary commitment from law enforcement to ensure that this escalation is stopped before it becomes uncontrollable.”
Confcommercio Ragusa reiterates that security is an essential prerequisite for the economic life of the territories: without safe roads, without trust, and without the perception of a present State, commerce suffers and cities empty. Hence the request for an urgent meeting with the Prefecture and the law enforcement agencies, convinced that only a coordinated and timely action can restore peace to the affected operators and communities.
