Assault on the demographic offices of the Municipality of Vittoria, the Fdi council group: "It is necessary for the staff to operate safely"

The council group of Brothers of Italy has expressed full and unconditional solidarity with the staff of the Demographic Services of the Municipality of Vittoria, victim of a vile attack while engaged in the performance of their duty in service of the community.

“What happened is unacceptable and we express our solidarity with the municipal employees. The administration must take finally effective action to restore security in the offices allowing employees to work in peace,” the councilors declare.

“For years, as Brothers of Italy, we have denounced the serious staff shortage in the offices and called for structural interventions to ensure an efficient and safe service for citizens. Unfortunately, the municipal administration has preferred to allocate public resources to operations of dubious utility – such as costly real estate purchases or the construction of public restrooms – instead of investing in staff enhancement and office security. What recently happened highlights the lack of planning in the management policies of the offices and a political myopia.

“For this reason, we strongly renew the request for an immediate enhancement of demographic services and the activation of a private security service, as has already occurred in other municipalities, to protect public safety and those who work daily in contact with the public under conditions of increasing tension.”
