Modica has come together around Marta Pediglieri for the final farewell.

The city of Modica experienced one of its most painful days on Monday as it bid farewell to Marta Pediglieri, 41, who passed away after a long illness that she faced with silent strength and a smile that many still remember as disarming.

The Church of the Sacred Heart was filled well before the start of the ceremony.
