Water thread hand light: in Scicli an exhibition involving four women artists between Italy and Malta
Starting March 28, a heterogeneous review that makes plurality its focal point.
On Saturday, March 28, the Quam Gallery will inaugurate “water thread hand light”, a project curated by the Maltese Christine Xuereb that brings together four artists from Italy and Malta: Beatrice Pediconi, Federica Tomasello, Manuela Toselli, and Mireille Vella.
Diverse in language and training, the authors create a heterogeneous exhibition that makes plurality its core. At the center of the exhibition is the idea of diversity as a creative lifeblood, fueled by female sensitivities capable of opening new perspectives.
“It invites us to reconsider which voices, materials, and methods have been historically marginalized,” writes the curator Christine Xuereb, who adds: “In this exhibition, fragility is not seen as weakness. It is understood as openness, a condition that allows for change, movement, and renewal.”
Featured are the fine and elegant papers of Beatrice Pediconi, with floral profiles obtained through an authentic technique; the marine expanses of Federica Tomasello, where the light of the Mediterranean becomes pastel dust; the weavings of Manuela Toselli, with personal hues and painterly threads; and finally Mireille Vella, who presents a Vigorous Nature expressed through Pop-inspired techniques.
Born from an idea by Antonio Sarnari of the Quam Gallery, the project has brought together a group of female artists in Scicli, promoting a dialogue between Northern Italy and the Mediterranean, between painting and contemporary linguistic research, between maturity and curiosity.
“Water thread hand light” will open on Saturday, March 28 at 6:30 PM in the spaces of the Quam Gallery, in the presence of the curator. Admission is free; the critical path will be available in Italian and English. The exhibition will be open until April 28.
