A powerful, poignant, and universal love story comes to life on the stage of the Teatro Comunale “L'Idea” in Sambuca di Sicilia. On Sunday, March 29, at 7:15 PM, “Le mille bolle blu” will be performed, an intense monologue written by Salvatore Rizzo, directed and interpreted by the masterful Filippo Luna.

At the center of the narrative is the story of Nardino and Manuele: the former, a neighborhood barber; the latter, a lawyer. Two seemingly distant lives that intertwine in 1960s Palermo, giving rise to a clandestine love, lived parallel to a “normal” everyday life and lasting for thirty years. A deep, hidden but unshakeable bond that finds its only space of freedom in memory.

The story opens with the death of Manuele, an event that forces Nardino into a silent grief, unable to express himself openly. It is precisely in this impossibility that the monologue takes shape: an emotional flow that traverses nostalgia and anger, sweetness and bitterness, constructing a true altar of memories. The result is an intense reflection on the universality of love, capable of overcoming prejudices and social barriers.

What makes this theatrical work a memorable experience is primarily the exceptional acting performance of Filippo Luna. His interpretation, measured and deeply human, manages to blend emotion and disenchantment with a rare naturalness, drawing the audience into a profound inner journey. It is no coincidence that for this monologue Luna received the Award from the National Association of Theater Critics (2010), with the motivation of having achieved “a perfect scenic-acting synthesis of emotion and disenchantment”. In addition, in 2020, he received the “Pino Caruso” Award, further recognition of a career built on rigor and artistic sensitivity.

The text, taken from the homonymous story by Rizzo included in the collection “Those Who Avoid Passion Die Slowly – Different Stories” (published by Pietro Vittorietti), confirms its extraordinary dramatic power. The writing of Rizzo is essential yet incisive, capable of evoking complex inner worlds with a clear and penetrating language, delivering to the audience a story that, while rooted in a precise historical context, speaks to every era.

“The Thousand Blue Bubbles” is not just a show, but an emotional experience that leaves a mark: a monologue that combines narrative strength and interpretative intensity, confirming itself as one of the most significant events of the theater season.
