"Laughter is a revolutionary act": Enrico Brignano "confesses" before the stop in Messina

Messina is getting ready for an evening of laughter and pure energy. The countdown has officially begun for the highly anticipated return to the Strait of Enrico Brignano, who will arrive at the Palarescifina on Tuesday, March 24 at 9 PM with his new and hilarious one man show: "Bello di mamma!". After sold-out successes in major Italian arenas, the Roman comedian once again chooses the warmth of the Sicilian audience for a stop that promises to be memorable. This is not just a simple cabaret show, but a true journey into everyday irony, where Brignano lays bare the vices, virtues, and paradoxes of our society with that verve that has made him one of the most beloved performers in Italy. Enrico Brignano's new tour is produced by Vivo Concerti and Enry B. Produzioni and promoted in Sicily by Giuseppe Rapisarda Management.

"With Sicily – Brignano explains – I have a relationship of great sentiment, because I have Sicilian roots. My father was from Catania, at home we always ate dishes that had Sicilian-Tunisian origins. My grandparents spoke a very thick Sicilian. When I did military service, I was the only Roman in a barrack of thirteen Sicilians. I remember at the first meeting they asked me 'but where are you from?'". A Sicily that is now preparing for an evening of fun. ""Bello di Mamma!" is a hug. It’s a caress said with a smile. It’s that phrase they told you when you were little that made you feel invincible, even when you had made a mess. It’s a show that talks about us, about when we were simpler and perhaps more genuine. The show speaks of childhood, memory, our fragilities. And how complicated we have become today. Before, it took little to laugh, now you need the instruction manual".

"Today it has become very difficult to make people laugh – Brignano continues – not because people don’t want to laugh, but because they are afraid to do so. As if laughing has become almost a revolutionary act. I want the audience to leave the arena feeling lighter. Maybe with a smile in their eyes and a memory in their hearts. And if on the way home they call their mother, I have already won".

"Beautiful Mom!" is thus a return to the origins of the one-man show and, at the same time, it becomes a personal story that turns collective and speaks to the audience through shared emotions, recognizable fragility, and a humor that does not shy away from tenderness. "Beautiful Mom – continues Brignano – is a show that makes you laugh… but with slightly teary eyes. It is entirely dedicated to her, to my mother Anna. It is a natural, inevitable dedication. Last year I lost her suddenly, while I was at the theater, on stage. When things like that happen, you immediately understand that what you are doing is not just work, it is a bond with the one who raised you. This show is my way of saying thank you to her, in front of everyone. I remember – Brignano concludes – that I surprised her by returning from New York after six months, she was still in our shop in Dragona. She saw me, jumped into my arms, and said: "Beautiful Mom"… with a pinch on the cheek, of course. At that moment I understood everything: that I was home, that I was loved, that I could go anywhere, but I always started from there. As long as I tell stories, laugh, and get emotional on stage, she is with me. This show is not just a dedication, it is a presence. Every night, when I bring it to the stage, it’s as if I tell her once again: "Did you see? I have become what you wanted me to be. And I will always be beautiful mom's boy".
