Siculiana enters the Writers' Road in the name of Stefano Bissi
"Joining the Writers' Road is not just a formal act, but a strategic choice for the future of tourism and culture in Siculiana," says Mayor Giuseppe Zambito.
Siculiana (Agrigento) officially joins the tourist-cultural circuit of the Road of Writers. The municipal council, with a resolution approved today, has ratified the draft memorandum of understanding with the eponymous association, formalizing the membership of the village to one of the most important literary itineraries in Italy.
The entry of Siculiana into the route that connects the places of great Sicilian authors (from Sciascia to Camilleri, from Pirandello to Tomasi di Lampedusa) occurs under the sign of Stefano Bissi (1923-2011). Master, poet, musician, and painter, Bissi has been identified by the Administration as the reference author to represent the identity and historical memory of the Siculiana community within the circuit.
«Joining the Road of Writers is not just a formal act, but a strategic choice for the touristic and cultural future of Siculiana» - says Mayor Giuseppe Zambito -. «Through the figure of Bissi, we want to offer visitors an authentic narrative of our roots. Bissi was able to paint with words and colors the soul of our village and our people; including him in this national itinerary means giving the right prominence to a literary heritage that deserves to be known and studied well beyond local boundaries.»
The agreement provides for the inclusion of Siculiana among the «Cities of the Road of Writers» and the mutual commitment to organize annual events, web and social communication activities, and educational paths aimed at enhancing the work of Bissi and the cultural landscape of Siculiana.
