Saturday, March 21, starting at 6:30 PM, at the initiative of the Center for Sicilian and Mediterranean Culture, chaired by Nicola La Perna, the 99th anniversary of the birth of Rosa Balistreri, who was born on March 21, 1927, will be commemorated.

The event will take place at “Casa di Rosa”, located at 42 Martinez Street, in the heart of the Marina district, where, “on the day that celebrates the awakening of nature and poetry, Licata gathers around its proudest and most tormented daughter. 99 years after her birth, the voice of Rosa Balistreri will resonate once again within the walls of her former home, for an evening of living memory, songs of freedom, and tales of a timeless Sicily. It will not just be a commemoration, but an open dialogue between music and words to honor the legacy of the “Voice of Sicily”,” reads the event's presentation statement.

The evening's program includes: Conversation and Memory - A journey through memories and the cultural impact of Rosa through the voices of Pino Apprendi and Mario Gaziano, and a second part animated by artists who carry on the tradition of folk and popular storytelling, such as Sandro Ficarra (Trivella Folk), Antonio Zarcone (who is also the artistic director of the event), Franco Sodano, the storyteller Mel Vizzi, and the friends of Putia.

The organization specifies that entry will be free until seats are filled.
