The Modican poet Domenico Pisana was awarded in Rome, in one of the symbolic places of republican history, the Zuccari Hall of the Senate at Palazzo Giustiniani.

His collection “The Exile of the Night”, published by Kanaga in 2025, won the poetry book section of the III edition 2026 of the International Excellence Award “DivinaMente Donna”, with the following motivation:

“His work, for its value, content, intensity, and expressive quality, has managed to stand out significantly, capturing the attention and appreciation of the Jury, which recognized in his participation an authentic, worthy, and particularly significant contribution. His victory represents not only a personal achievement but also a shared value, enriching the cultural and human journey of this edition.”

The ceremony, organized by Regina Resta, president of the VerbumlandiArt Association, was divided into two parts: in the first part, awards were given to women who have distinguished themselves in fields such as culture, journalism, business, human rights advocacy, hospitality and inclusion, immigration, and sports;

in the second part, Pisana was awarded along with other authors by a jury composed of Marisa Manzini, deputy attorney general of the Republic in Catanzaro, and Senator Tilde Minasi, chaired by Corrado Calabrò, one of the leading Italian poets of the late twentieth century, author of numerous collections published by major publishers (Guanda, Vanni Scheiwiller, Mondadori, Crocetti, Newton Compton, and several foreign publishing houses) and a finalist for the Strega Prize in 1999.

“Another experience lived among emotions and thoughts – declared Domenico Pisana – but with the awareness that a prize is not a medal on the chest nor a final destination, but a responsibility: that of continuing to honor the commitment and passion for building the values of humanism through poetry, literature, and the culture of otherness.”
