Carmen Consoli: "From singer to 'speaking' citizen, I vote no to the referendum on Justice"
The artist from Catania announces on social media his vote, justifying it with the defense of the Constitution and the Cartabia reform.
The singer-songwriter Carmen Consoli announced on Instagram her opposition to the referendum on justice scheduled for March 22 and 23. “I vote No. Why? Because I believe in the wise work of our founding fathers and mothers and their enlightened vision of democracy and justice. I vote No. Because even the no votes can help a still adolescent country grow, and it is known that adolescence is rebellious,” she wrote.
“I know, I should only think about singing, assuming I do it well... but I am disobedient and I want to bypass the separation of careers. And as a singing citizen, I become a speaking citizen. I also want to say a few words about this referendum,” the artist continues. In her remarks, Consoli also brings up considerations on the topic of reform: “With the Cartabia Law, the transfer of functions is already reduced to a minimum, I don’t know if the game is worth the candle. And then there’s the aspect of the two CSMs, which is an attempt to reduce the influence of factions, I don’t know if it succeeds, let’s see if it does. I would add, let’s hope, in the sense that these are not my words... they are too beautiful to be mine. I don’t speak that well. These are the words of my fellow citizen Ignazio La Russa,” the musician emphasizes.
