The Sicilian Risorgimento with documents curated by Ragusa officials arrives in Rome.
On Tuesday, the presentation at the Library of Modern and Contemporary History
On Tuesday, March 24, at 5 PM, at the Library of Modern and Contemporary History, the volume “One, Free and Powerful. A Study Day on the Sicilian Risorgimento (1820-1861)”, published by the Ministry of Culture – General Directorate of Archives, will be presented.
The work, edited by Vincenzo Cassì and Alessandro D’Amato, officials of the State Archive of Ragusa, brings together essays dedicated to a decisive season in the history of the island and the path of national unification.
The initiative is part of the series “Archives to Browse”, a cycle of meetings promoted by the General Directorate of Archives with the aim of enhancing the documentary heritage and the work of scholars.
In addition to the editors, the event will feature Antonio Tarasco, General Director of Archives, Gabriele Capone, Archival Superintendent of Sicily, and Raffaele Antonio Cosimo Pittella, professor at Roma Tre University.
The presentation will offer the public and the scientific community an opportunity for in-depth exploration of the Sicilian Risorgimento, emphasizing the essential role of archival sources in historical reconstruction and in understanding the political and social dynamics that accompanied the birth of united Italy.
