The Mattarella murder at the Margherita Cinema: memory, legality, and civic engagement
The film retraces one of the most dramatic pages of Italian history.
An evening dedicated to civil engagement cinema and historical memory.
Today, Wednesday, March 18, at 8:00 PM, the Cinema Margherita in Acireale will host the screening of the film The Mattarella Murder, directed by Aurelio Grimaldi, as part of the program "March – The Month of Culture" and the series "Our History".
The event will be enriched by the presence in the hall of the director Aurelio Grimaldi and the actors Tuccio Musumeci, Andrea Tidona, and David Coco, who will precede the screening with a presentation talk led by journalist Alessandra Bonaccorsi.
The film retraces one of the most dramatic pages of Italian history: the assassination of the President of the Sicilian Region, Piersanti Mattarella, which took place on January 6, 1980. A murder that struck a symbolic figure of a political season marked by reforming courage and the fight against the mafia.
Through a rigorous and intense narrative, the film conveys the atmosphere of those years and invites reflection on the value of legality, civic engagement, and political responsibility.
Admission is free until seats are filled.
The following day, tomorrow Thursday, March 19 at 10:00 AM, the film will be screened again at the Cinema Margherita in a matinée dedicated to the local high schools, with the participation of director Aurelio Grimaldi and actor David Coco.
An opportunity for in-depth discussion and engagement with students on the themes of memory, legality, and contemporary history.
