Modica: Salvatore Floridia, historic president of the mutual aid society, has passed away.
For decades, he has held the presidency of the organization based on Corso Umberto.

The city of Modica mourns the passing of Salvatore Floridia, a key figure in the social fabric and historical president of the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso.
Floridia has inextricably linked his name to the historic institution of Corso Umberto. For decades, he led the presidency of the organization with that thrift and dedication typical of a management style from another era, focused on the protection of the members and the preservation of the association's prestige. Under his leadership, the Società Operaia went through significant seasons, confirming itself as a fundamental center of aggregation and solidarity for the Modican community, before passing the baton to the current president, Giorgio Solarino.
Referred to as “the accountant Floridia”, Modica mourns the passing of Salvatore Floridia, a prominent figure in the city's fabric and historical president of the Società Operaia di Mutuo Soccorso. His name remains inextricably linked to the historic reality of Corso Umberto: for decades, he led the association with that thrift and dedication characteristic of a management style from another era, protecting the members and preserving the prestige of the association. Under his presidency, the Società Operaia experienced significant seasons, confirming itself as an essential center of aggregation and solidarity for the Modican community, before the passing of the baton to the current leadership, Giorgio Solarino. Known to all as “the accountant Floridia” (formerly an employee of the Asp), he will be honored with a special tribute decided by the Board of Directors: the funeral home will be set up at the association's headquarters, in Corso Umberto, starting at 3:30 PM. A moment to allow members, friends, and citizens to pay their last respects within the walls that, for almost an entire life, were his second home. “Salvatore Floridia – says his successor Solarino – embodied the values of mutual aid with rigor and a spirit of service, leaving an indelible mark in the history of our association.” The funeral will be held on Friday, March 20, at 10:30 AM, at the Mother Church of San Pietro.(he had been an employee of the Asp), in a sign of deep respect and gratitude for the long service rendered, the Board of Directors of the Società Operaia has arranged a special tribute: the funeral home will be set up right inside the association's headquarters, in Corso Umberto, from 3:30 PM onwards.
This will be a moment to allow members, friends, and the many citizens who knew him to pay their last tribute within those walls that have been his second home for almost his entire life.
