Modica is preparing for a grand symphonic event at the Teatro Garibaldi. On Sunday, March 22, at 6:30 PM, the Modica stage will welcome the “Symphonic Concert – Chopin, Prokofiev, and Beethoven” featuring the prestigious Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini di Catania, conducted by maestro Marcus Bosch, with the extraordinary participation of pianist Elisso Bolkvadze. Enhancing the evening will be the illustrations by Letizia Algeri, called to weave a refined dialogue between sound and image.
The program traverses some of the most significant pages from the 19th and 20th centuries, encompassing romantic lyricism, soloist virtuosity, and grand orchestral architecture. The lineup includes “Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise brillante, op. 22” by Fryderyk Chopin, one of the most beloved works of the Polish composer; Piano Concerto No. 1 in D-flat major, op. 10 by Sergej Prokofiev, a masterpiece of his early maturity; and Symphony No. 6 in F major, op. 68 “Pastoral” by Ludwig van Beethoven, renowned for its ability to evoke natural landscapes and pastoral atmospheres.
On the podium will be Marcus Bosch, a prominent figure in the German conducting school and one of the most innovative maestros on the international scene. Winner of the Opus Klassik 2021, he has conducted over a hundred orchestras worldwide, distinguished by an extensive repertoire ranging from Baroque to contemporary.
At the piano will be Elisso Bolkvadze, one of the brightest stars on the global stage: described by Zubin Mehta as “a pianist with complete control over the instrument,” she has received international acclaim for recordings and performances that combine poetic sensitivity with technical rigor, alongside a strong civic commitment. She is a UNESCO Artist for Peace.
Joining these exceptional performers will be the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini, one of the most authoritative symphonic entities in Italy, also appreciated abroad thanks to numerous tours. The contribution of Letizia Algeri will create a visual bridge that accompanies the listening experience.

"Welcoming to our stage the Orchestra del Teatro Massimo Bellini along with two internationally renowned artists, Marcus Bosch and Elisso Bolkvadze, is a great honor for the Teatro Garibaldi and for the entire community" – say Maria Monisteri, president of the Foundation, and superintendent Tonino Cannata – "This concert represents one of the highlights of our musical season, both for the stature of the performers and for the artistic value of the program. It will be an intense experience, where music and visual art, thanks to the contribution of Letizia Algeri, will intertwine in a highly evocative event."
